Trip Overview

Lhasa to Khasgar Tour Khashgar, also called Khashi, was once a major halt for caravans on the Silk Road .It is now a prosperous commercial centre with a population composed of Uighur, Tajik and Kirgiz nationalities. Here it is the Han Chinese who are in the minority.

Id Kah Mosque & Square are the center of the Khasgar which is the main shopping market. One of the sights not to miss is the Sunday animal market in the large field which is situated at a distance of half an hour walk eastward from the main market. The main attractions of Khasgar is the “Abakh Khoja Tomb”. It is nearly an hour walk from the main market to reach the Tomb. The Tomb of Xiang Fei, a concubine of the Emperor Quinlong, and those of her relatives are in the mosque. There is a cemetery behind the mosque has some holes in the graves with the occasional bone poking through.

This tour can be commenced either from Kathmandu, OR from Lhasa OR mainland China (Chengdu or Beijing). The trip can be designed as per your amount of time and the places you would like to cover within the tour.

Here, we have offered a program that commences from Kathmandu with an hour & 10 minutes flight to Lhasa where we spend a few days to look around. From Lhasa, we take our journey to Mt. Kailash via Gyantse (the ancient trading center of Tibet) and Shigatse (the second largest city of Tibet). We make a 3 days trek around the Mt. Kailash then continue our journey to Khasgar via Tirthpuri, Tholing, Shiquanhe and Yecheng.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Fly to Lhasa. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. It is a two hours drive to reach Lhasa from the Airport.
Day 02: A full day sightseeing tour within Lhasa. We visit Potal Palace, Norbulinkha Palace and Barkhor Square today.
Day 03: Today, we visit Drepung Monsatery and Sera monastery. Evening free on your own.
Day 04: Drive, Lhasa to Gyantse. We visit Kumbum stupa, Pelkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Dzong.
Day 05: Drive to Shigatse. We visit Tashilunpu Monastery here.
Day 06: Shigatse/Lhatse via Sakya monastery
Day 07: Drive Lhatse/Sangsang/Saga, camping
Day 08: Drive Saga/Paryang, o/n camping
Day 09: Drive Paryang to Lake Manasarovar, walk around the lake, camping
Day 10: Lake Manasarovar to Darchen. Overnight at lodge
Day 11: Drive to Darboche and trek to Dera Phuk Gomba
Day 12: Continue trek to Zhutulphuk Gomba
Day 13: Finish trek and back to Darchen
Day 14: Drive Darchen to Tsaparang
Day 15: Visit Tholing and Guge Kingdom
Day 16: Drive to Shiquanhe (Gar)
Day 17: Drive Shiquanhe/Ritok
Day 18: Drive Ritok/yecheng
Day 19: Drive Yecheng/Kashgar…….Tour ends!
