Kathmandu Lhasa Budget tour:

Travelers who prefer to travel independently in Tibet rather than sticking with a fixed itinerary can take this overland tour. This 5 days tour brings you to Lhasa via highlighted places situated in Kathmandu Lhasa highway (friendship highway). Once you reach Lhasa, your are independent and you will be responsible for making all the necessary arrangements and return journey to Nepal or towards to mainland China. However, if you would like to fly out from Lhasa to Kathmandu or anyother city of mainland China, we can manage the air ticket in advance.

No matter about the group size, this tour can be arranged for both individuals and small group travelers any time on their request. This is not a fixed departure tour, so travelers can chose the dates according to their convenicne.

For this type of tour, we are allowed to get the Tibet visa for a maximum 25 days (however this may change) after that if you want you can extend your visa by yourself in Tibet (not in Lhas though, only in small town out of Lhasa). You are allowed to travel with Tibet visa up to the mainland China where this visa will be replaced by an individual Chinese visa. This will be valid for another 30 days.

If you like to fly out from Lhasa to kathmandu or any other city of mainland China, this visa allows you.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Kathmandu / Nyalam (3750 m.). Overnight Nyalam Guesthouse (dormitory room)
Drive from Kathmandu to the Tibetan border at Kodari / Zhangmu. Continue up the steep switchback road to Nyalam.

Day 2: Nyalam / Lhatse (3950 m.). Overnight Lhatse Guesthouse (dormitory room)
A remarkable day's drive across the Tibetan plateau with Spectacular Mountain views from Lalung-La pass (5050m). Passing through the town of Tingri there is more views of Mt. Everest and Cho-Oyu.

Day 3: Lhatse - Shigatse (3900 m.). Overnight Hotel Everest Friendship. (Twin sharing room)
En route, visit Shakya Monastery before crossing the Lalung-La (4500 m) and continuing across the plains to Shigatse.

Day 4: Shigatse / Gyantse (3950 m.). Overnight Hotel Jianzang (Twin sharing room)
After visiting the Tashilimpu Monastery, it's a short drive to Gyantse with its amazing sights - Khumbum, Palkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Dzong.

Day 5: Gyantse / Lhasa (3650 m.). Accommodation on your own
The highlight of this day is the beautiful turquoise lake, Yamdruk - Tso. After crossing the Kamba- La and the Yarlung (Brahmaputra) River, the journey ends in Lhasa.
